The old cloth factory in Esch-sur-Sûre was converted into the Nature Park centre in 1992 and has since accommodated the Park’s reception centre along with a tourist information office, a regional products shop, the cloth factory museum, and an interactive exhibition on the Nature Park. Temporary textile exhibitions also take place here at regular intervals.

In Esch-sur-Sûre, a weaving guild already existed in the 16th century, so that the origin of the factory goes hand-in-hand with the invention of the first wool machines. A fulling machine has been built in 1807 and 10 years later the first spinning machine, has been installed. The carefully restored machines from 1992 to 1995 can still be seen in the cloth factory and be operated during guided tours (on request).

Our shop sells a large selection of textile products woven in the cloth factory. The fabrics woven from pure new wool are made on the Museum’s old machines. This high-quality cloth is used to make blankets, scarves, and ponchos but also for example toilet bags, bags, or key rings. The products are manufactured in small series and are thus unique. In addition, you will also find a variety of regional products in our shop. So, you can put together a gift basket to suit your wishes.The exhibition about the Upper Sûre Nature Park informs visitors of all ages about the Nature Park, its inhabitants and environment. In the small cottages, children can have fun learning about the flora and fauna around the reservoir lake and familiarize themselves with projects specially developed for them.
